🏈 Comparing Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford

The first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Jared Goff, just got PAID. Signing a 4 year, $212M deal, with $170M guaranteed, Goff will QB the Lions this year, a Lions team with expectations and aspirations to go further than the NFC Championship game they reached a year ago.

Goff’s predecessor in Detroit, Matthew Stafford (first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft), will do everything in his power to get the Rams back to the playoffs where they were defeated by the Lions in Stafford’s homecoming a season ago. Stafford has a SuperBowl win under his belt since being traded to the Rams in a trade that sent Goff to the Lions, but both seem to have flourished in their new environments.

Stafford has been a great leader and QB for the Rams and Sean McVay, while Jared Goff is putting up career numbers leading the Lions under Head Coach Dan Campbell and Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson. Johnson, who passed on multiple head coaching opportunities this offseason to remain in Detroit, has played and will play a major part in Goff living up to his new contract in the Motor City.
